Do you know that: ” best hotel prices” was searched on google over 20, 000 times last year and if you have planned a vacation in the past, you probably have searched for good deals and tried comparing the best hotel prices online. For many of us, traveling is still a dream, but they say dreaming is free, so why not take the time during this pandemic and update our travel list with new and exciting places we want to visit. Planning a trip can be overwhelming, as you need to book your flights, find a hotel, check for attractions in the area, and the list with things to do before vacation goes on and on.
There are so many booking websites, travel agencies, and bloggers that help in booking vacations, but that can be overwhelming and time-consuming. If you have the right tools, you can find good deals in minutes. In this post, I want to share with you ten ways how to find the best hotel prices, and as you know, I like to take LifeTime Vacays on a Budget, so why not got on a luxury vacation and not break the budget. Many people have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, but that doesn’t mean people are not traveling anymore. Traveling on a budget is possible, and if you do it the right way, you can still have a nice vacation.
Here are my top 10 ways on how to find good deals on Hotels.
1. Search Online for the best hotel prices
The first thing to do is search online, as travel websites are offering great deals on accommodation, and you can easily find the best deals. Trivago compares the rates of hotels from different other booking platforms, which can save you money. Back in the days, I used to be an editor for the website, where people used to add attractions, reviews, and links and getting paid for it. If you search by a destination, you will be able to find attractions, hotels, and everything you need to know about the place. I think reviews are a great way to tell if the place is good or not.
2. Check on Hotel’s official website
After you have found a hotel accommodation from one of the many websites online, check on the hotel’s official website if they have any deals, lower price, or packages. Many times hotels have good offers on their website, or if you have the time you can directly call and ask for the rates, as you might be surprised, lower prices are out there just waiting to be found.
3. Check for “Lowest Rate Guaranteed” Deals
Look for deals like “lowest rate guaranteed”! Those deals are great because you will get the lowest rate on the market, but in fact, they have very strict cancelation policies, so it might be hard to cancel or modify your hotel stay. Doing research will ensure that you get the best hotel prices, but in fact, sometimes when it is too good to be true, it might be a catch. If you book any of those deals, make sure you already have your flights booked and your vacation plans are fixed. Again, even if you find those deals, check with the property if they can give you a better deal.
4. Check for Bundle Deals for the best hotel prices
Bundle and Save! It can be cheaper if you find travel packages, like flights + hotels, or flights/rent a car +hotels. I have seen many good deals on bundles; sometimes, you can get a flight plus hotel for a weekend in Miami for less than $200. I have found the best website for bundles to be Expedia. I like how easy it is to navigate and use the website. You can also check with travel agents, as sometimes they have good deals on bundle packages, and you can get extra resort credits and insights on what to expect from the place. Travel agencies have access to hotels and they can give you some special prices on accommodation. I was surprised to find out that booking websites have a higher price on accommodation than some travel agencies can give you. Remember, the best hotel prices are not in front of you, but waiting to be discovered.
5. Credit Card Credits/Offers
Many times big credit card companies offer special offers on hotel bookings. I remember AMEX was giving 50$ credit if you book Marriot stay for over 200$, which is a good saving. If you have a credit card offering you points, 200$ in hotel booking times 3 points, can be an extra 60$ credit that you can use towards your flights. Most of the time, I fly and stay using my credit card rewards programs. I also have AMEX Delta which if you open you can get miles that convert into money (from 100$ to 500$). When checking to get a credit card, make sure you read all the information because you don’t want to end up paying a yearly fee of $495, just to get a hotel credit or miles. Be smart and do your research.
6. Join Hotels.com Rewards Program
Check if you can find a good price on a hotel stay on the website and sign up for their rewards program. For every 10 nights booked with them, you will get 1 FREE NIGHT stay, which is an extra 40-60$. I already got my free night of stay and used it on my way back to the states with a one night stay in Istanbul, Turkey. I like to use this platform because they provide great customer service and are ready to help if you have any problems with reservations.
7. Check for Family/Group Rates
If you are traveling the whole family or a small group of friends, make sure to check with the hotel if they offer group discounts. You might be surprised that a lot of hotels offer special rates, but not many people ask for them. With the group discount, you can save up to 35% on rooms, which means extra money to spend on attractions, food, and future trips. Make sure to check with the hotel, because different properties have different requirements, for some to be considered a group, you will need to book a minimum number of 3-5 rooms, while other places require a minimum of 10 people on a booking.
8. Book in Advance
Book in advance and SAVE BIG! Booking in advance can save you up to 50% of the price of your hotel. If you know when you are traveling, and you are ready to book your flights, make sure you book your hotel in advance. You can save if you book last minute, but this is risky and not guaranteed that prices will drop for the selected destination. If you are traveling to popular destinations like Paris, London, and Venice, prices most likely will not go down. As long as you have the flights booked, then you can do your research on hotels, it is risky to wait for a hotel deal. If you booked a flight that is over $1,000 because that might put you in a position to pay higher hotel prices if you book late. Remember, you want to find the best hotel prices!
9. Check for Off-Season Rates
Off-season rates- Normally, hotels will have offseason and high season rates, and if you are traveling off-season or you are flexible with your travel plans, make sure you check for the offseason rates because that can save you a lot of money on hotel bookings. Off-season doesn’t mean only lower prices, but fewer travelers, which is good if you don’t like crowded places. And now, during the pandemic, you don’t want to be surrounded by many people. When I travel, I normally try to research flights and if I find a good deal, then will check for hotel deals and of course compare prices and find the best hotel prices.
10. Look for Book 2 get 1 Free night Deals
COVID-19 had hit the travel industry very hard, not only closed hotels and lost bookings on cruises, but many people lost their jobs. Hotels are slowly reopening, which means a lot of deals on the market. I have recently seen advertisements for hotels offering 1 FREE night for every two nights you book with them. If you are traveling anytime soon, make sure to check for those special deals, because one free night can save you 50-150$.
Those are some of the ways that you can save on hotel bookings, but I am sure there are many more. Being flexible on your travel plans can save you money; looking for alternative accommodation can also be an option. Back in the days, I used to stay with Couchsurfing hosts, and it was fun, or Airbnb is great for more private and feeling like a homestay. Take the time to consider all the available deals and go for the one that gives you the most savings, but also the flexibility, as we live in uncertain times, and your travel plans can change. Hav
